Mixing your multitrack
From rough tracks to a stereo mix that still makes sense on earbuds and in a car — in our control room with Daan Prins or offline from your delivered stems.

Mixing at Culticlayer sits between tracking and release. You can upload stems after sessions elsewhere, after vocal recording or live band recording with us, or sit beside the engineer while buses are balanced. We mix on a desk with 24 inputs and monitors we trust for daily work in Oud-West.
Offline mixing is €175 per song; attended hours in the studio are €85. Up to five songs on one release use €695 once the track list is fixed. Read delivering stems for mix before you upload — wrong sample rates eat more time than you expect.
How it works
- 01
Scope
Send track list, references and deadline to [email protected]. We confirm offline or studio, price and a 25% deposit.
- 02
Import
Stems or session import with a shared start point. We check headroom, phase and missing files before mixing.
- 03
Balance
Level, EQ, dynamics, space and vocal focus. You receive a first bounce within the agreed turnaround.
- 04
Revisions
Up to 2 rounds with written notes. Then optional Mastering or export for your mastering engineer.
Offline mix versus studio hours
Offline means you deliver printed tracks, we mix on our clock and send a stereo preview. It suits when you cannot be in Amsterdam or when take choices are already locked. €175 applies per finished song; every stem in your export counts, so a clear folder beats a hundred unnamed files.
Studio time at €85 is for listening on our monitors, live A/B and immediate tweaks. Useful right after tracking in the same building — no need to bounce stems home first. Both paths end at the same quality bar; the difference is scheduling and whether you attend.
EP bundle and track limits
€695 covers up to five tracks on one release. Six songs means a custom quote — email titles and lengths. The bundle assumes similar production per song; a five-minute ballad plus a thirty-second interlude is priced honestly in the quote.
Revisions beyond 2 rounds are billed per hour or per track under terms and conditions. We keep feedback in writing so round two and three do not contradict each other.
Delivery specs and naming
Send wav or aiff, preferably 24-bit, one sample rate per project. Bounce stems from the same zero point; avoid mp3 intermediates unless you only send a reference. See the table in our stem guide for naming examples.
- Drums: separate kick, snare, overheads or a drum bus plus spot mics — stay consistent per song.
- Bass and guitars: DI plus amp when you tracked both.
- Vocals: lead, doubles, ad-libs as separate tracks; no baked reverb unless intentional.
Upload via a link we provide; large projects may arrive on drive after arranging through contact.
What mixing includes and excludes
Included: level balance, pan, EQ, compression, reverb/delay choices, de-essing, basic automation and a stereo mixdown. You get a preview mp3 or wav and, after approval, a final wav without master limiting unless you book mastering with us.
Excluded: new recording, rewriting arrangements, sample replacement, heavy vocal tuning, beat reprogramming and video sync. Production work belongs in a production session, not in a mix quote built on existing tracks.
References and expectations
Send one or two references close to the width and vocal level you want — not to clone another artist, but to start the conversation. Mention target platform when it matters; we do not mix exclusively for one loudness target, but loudness for streaming frames expectations before mastering.
If stems arrive already smashed, we are honest about what is left to fix. Re-bouncing tracks is sometimes the fastest repair.
Turnaround and archives
Offline mixes start once delivery is complete; expect several business days per track depending on queue, complexity and EP bundle status. Studio sessions book inside Tue–Fri 10–19, Sat 12–17 opening hours; evening slots are limited.
We keep project files for 18 months. Download stems and finals inside that window; extensions may cost extra. See privacy policy for storage and data processing agreement when client speech sits in a track — rare on instrumental mixes, relevant on spoken content.
Rates, VAT and business billing
| Rate | Price incl. 21% VAT |
|---|---|
| Per track offline | €175 |
| Per hour in studio | €85 |
| EP up to 5 tracks | €695 |
Net reference: €144.63 per offline track. B2B with 21-day terms after approved quote. 25% deposit on confirmation.
On to mastering and related services
A mix is not a master. For Spotify or download release we recommend Mastering with its own revision round there. Missing vocals only? Book Vocal recording then mix in one chain.

FAQ
How many stems can I send?
No hard cap when the session stays organised. More than forty tracks per song? Mention it in the quote request so we estimate time.
Do you mix inside my DAW template?
We mix in our session and deliver stereo (optional stems on request). Template handoff is rarely needed for release.
Can I attend the first bounce?
That is the €85 studio option. Offline work happens on agreed milestones with a link.
What if I still want tweaks after two revisions?
Extra rounds are possible at additional cost per terms. Bundle notes into one email per round — that is fastest.
Do you master stems too?
Mastering is Mastering. We deliver mixes without final limiting unless you agree otherwise for a quick reference.
