About the studio

Why we are here

Culticlayer started as a place to record without detours: band in one room, vocals behind glass, mix and master at the same desk. No walk-in hour shop; you book an engineer and a block that matches your track list.

We work with local Amsterdam acts and with producers who send stems from home setups. Same rules either way: clear agreements, published rates on services and delivery your DAW understands.

The rooms

Live room

About 38 m², tall enough for drums and amp cabs on rugs. Multiple mic positions, sight line to control.

Vocal booths

2 booths with direct feeds to the desk; suited to lead, rap and doubles.

Control room

24 analogue inputs, nearfields and a calm listening position for mix and master.

Podcast corner

Table with up to 4 fixed seats and broadcast mics — see Talk and podcast recording.

Gear and approach

We keep 22 microphones on hand, from large-diaphragm condensers to dynamics and ribbons for guitars and drums. Brands are not the selling point; choice follows the source and session.

Offline mixing and mastering runs through Daan; live and vocals through Sophie. Lars handles scheduling, quotes and invoicing. Want session detail? Read service pages such as Live band recording or Mastering.

Getting here

Bilderdijkstraat 112, 1053 KW Amsterdam (Oud-West). Tram 7 stops at Bilderdijkstraat; from the Bilderdijkstraat stop it is about a 3-minute walk to number 112. From Amsterdam Centraal, tram 7 towards Slotervaart takes roughly 12 minutes. By bike from Leidseplein it is about 8 minutes via Overtoom.
